Coaching with the BCU
The BCU provide a comprehensive coaching qualification scheme and coach education programme. BCU Coaching UK is designed to ensure that coaches and participants are fully and properly prepared to take part in the sport and that coaches are qualified to instruct participants in all aspects of technique, safety and understanding. Access to any of the awards within the BCU scheme can be achieved via clubs, centres and coaches affiliated to the BCU UK Coaching Service, if you live in England this is via membership of Canoe England.

Coaching with the RNKA
Following the success of the UKCC Level 1 coaching course we have just run in the Portsmouth area, I intend organising more courses to ensure that we increase the number of qualified coaches and that we can continue to deliver pool sessions and provide grass-roots activities for all.
The first course will be the UKCC level 2 training, which I have booked for 16th to the 19th August 2010. The prerequisites for the course are the UKCC level 1, 20 hours coaching experience and a 3 star.
I have also booked another UKCC Level 1 course for the 11th to the 14th September 2010. The prerequisites are a new 2 star (to include open boating) and the Foundation, Safety and Rescue award. The prerequisites can be gained at a number of sessions that I am trying to organise leading up to the course, first one being in May.
As more details arise I will update this site, so please keep checking back.
These are civilian instructor lead courses that you pay for, there is no requirement to be a Serving member of the Armed Forces, although as we [the RNKA] are organising it priority will be given Service Personnel of the RNKA, RAFCA and ACA first with any remaining spaces being offered to non-military mebers.
If you are interested get in touch and register your details ASAP as the spaces filled up quick last time.
